Wine explorer.
Wildlife wanderer.

This site holds two of my long-running interests. I teach wine the way I wish someone had taught me — by region, by grape, with a focus on building real confidence at the shop. And I carry a camera to the places worth slowing down for: birds in the wild and landscapes from the road.

Hello

Two threads, one table

Wine and photography scratch the same itch for me: both reward attention, patience, and a willingness to keep learning. Here's a bit of each.

The wine side

Wine is one of the most mapped subjects in the world — every region has a character, every grape a personality — and yet most people walk into a shop and feel lost. I want to change that.

My goal is to turn you into a wine explorer: someone who can pick up a bottle from an unfamiliar region, have a rough sense of what's inside, and feel confident enough to try it. It's not about the most expensive or the most prestigious — it's about curious and connected.

The photography side

I carry a camera wherever I travel, but birds are what keep pulling me back. There's a particular kind of patience required — the same patience that makes a good wine make sense — and the gallery holds the shots that rewarded the wait.

Classes & tastings

From time to time I run small classes and tastings built around a simple idea: knowing where a wine comes from makes every future bottle more interesting. We taste through regions, meet the grapes behind the labels, and talk about what to reach for when you're standing in a shop wondering what to try.

Next class

Mid-to-late summer 2026

The next tasting is taking shape for mid-to-late summer — region, date, and bottles still to come. The last one was a lap of Italy in five glasses.
